Oregon Minimum Wage Increases
Friday, January 2, 2009 at 12:00PM
Effective January 1st, Oregon’s minimum wage increased from $7.95 an hour to $8.40 an hour.
Oregon’s labor commissioner adjusts the minimum wage each year based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). In 2002, Oregon voters passed Ballot Measure 25. This measure requires that the Commissioner adjust the minimum wage for inflation, rounded to the nearest five cents. CPI of course is a measure of inflation.
If you have not done so already, you should make sure that the pay rate for all of your employees making less than $8.40 an hour is adjusted as of January 1, 2009.
